plushies

so, perhaps you're expecting a collection of plushies here. not the case, at least for the moment. however, the three plushies i have are ever special and extremely close to my heart

i should probably let you know that these three are what i call "travel buddies" this is the role they play in my life. safe travels while i am sleeping. sleep is necessary, however the nightmares i often have are not. what i can always count on though. is that should i wake up, at any time, my travel buddies are in my arms or laying on my chest

so let me introduce you to...

appa

an appa plush resting on a purple bedsheet

i've not watched all of avatar the last airbender. but appa quickly left an impression on me that has stuck ever since i watched part of the series in college. i'm quite attached to appa, and in plush form even more so. appa, much like mazzy (who you can read about below) has a special power. he's got some weight to him! and this makes him perfect for resting on my chest to sooth anxiety or help with the fear of falling asleep. should i opt to sleep on my side, he is great for cuddles too!

theo

a brown and white stuffed bulldog plush

theo comfortably lays in my left arm every night. he was originally a gift for an ex that never took to him. one day i realized i still had theo despite having broken up for some time. originally the negative feelings prompted me to want to discard theo. however i soon realized that because my ex had no attachment to theo like at all. i could instead create my own memory and attachment to theo instead

mazzy

a white stuffed dog of unknown breed. fast asleep and laying on her stomach

much like theo, i came across mazzy in my room one day. i'm not sure where mazzy came from, but as i tell her, "i'm glad you're here". mazzy comfortably lays in my right arm every night. mazzy has a rather special power. she came with a heart that when turned on, creates a calming heartbeat. i've found that the rhythm of this heartbeat is often calming, and can relieve some of the stress i may have to help me fall asleep
